"7 Tricks Successful People Use to Overcome their Fear of Failure"

10 Quotes by famous female scientists

There are many very impressive female scientists.

That’s why I want to share quotes by 10 of these extraordinary Ladies! I will introduce them even more over the next weeks. Enjoy!

Marie Currie (1867 – 1934)

Lise Meitner (1878 – 1968)

Gertrude Elion (1918 – 1999)

Mary Anning (1799 – 1847)

Since I could not find a quote by Mary Anning I included the famous British tongue-twister that is said to be inspired by the life and work of Mary Anning:

She sells sea-shells on the sea-shore.
The shells she sells are sea-shells, I’m sure.
For if she sells sea-shells on the sea-shore
Then I’m sure she sells sea-shore shells.

Jane Goodall (born 1934)

Rosalind Franklin (1920 – 1958)

Dian Fossey (1932 – 1985)

Rita Levi-Montalcini (1909 – 2012)

Rachel Carson (1907 – 1964)

Maria Mayer (1906 – 1972)

Hi Ilka,

Awesome indeed 🙂

You know how much I love quotes, and I always bookmark a page when I find lovely quotes like these as I use them in almost all my posts. Not to mention that they are so different as they are from female scientists, so all the more reason to keep them safe.

Thanks for sharing them with us. Have a nice week ahead 🙂

Thanks for your kind word Harleena!

I always enjoy the quotes you include in your posts. They really give the post an extra special touch.

All these female scientists are fantastic. Some of them really struggled in a science world that was dominated by male. But their love for science was stronger than their struggles and fears 🙂

I also wish you a great week 🙂

Ella - June 9, 2014

Hi Ilka,

I love the quotes! Interesting how many of these famous ladies talk about fear. I am looking forward to learning more about them. Some I know, some I don’t!

    simplyilka - June 10, 2014

    Hi Ella!

Nice to see you here again 🙂

Yes, these female scientists had to fight their fear as well. I think because some lived in a harsh environment where everyone was just waiting for them to make a mistake, their fear of failure was enormous.

And yes, I will introduce the life and achievements of these female scientists in my next posts 🙂

Adrienne - June 10, 2014

Hi Ilka,

I have to agree, really great quotes and I do love positive and inspirational messages. I was thinking that they were going to be technical or something but I was pleasantly surprised. Tells you how much I know right.

    Hi Adrienne,

I am glad you enjoyed the quotes and I could pleasantly surprise you 🙂

I also like positive messages. Negativity just pulls people down and is usually not helping.

    All the Best 🙂

Mi Muba - June 10, 2014

Hi Ilka
It is great to read quotes of famous female scientist which are rarely quoted in our general life.
A quote does not work as big support for our moments of stress but it also opens new vistas of thinking to move ahead.
We can say if an ocean is put into small jar we can say it is a quote as it has a few words but oceans of meanings and messages in it.
Thanks for compiling and sharing this wonderful post.

    Thank you Mi Muba!

I am glad you liked the post 🙂

I like the thought of a quote being like an ocean in a small jar. I agree that a quote can trigger something bigger. Considering and thinking about a quote can help us to change our perspective 🙂

Even while listening to a full statement or long presentation, it often is this one sentence that ‘gets’ us and that we take home 🙂

All the Best and Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂

Sherri - June 11, 2014

We sometimes forget that life is not only easy and every success story includes ups and downs. But it is also encouraging and helps us to keep moving; no matter what 🙂

Thanks and all the Best my friend 🙂

Nini Riedel - June 11, 2014

Hi Ilka,

I like the quote by Dian Fossey in particular. Unfortunately we often expect things to happen on their own, like some magic….

Cheers, NINI

    simplyilka - June 12, 2014

    Thanks Nini!

    You are so right 🙂

We want fulfillment of our dreams, happiness and success, but we don’t want to struggle, work hard or fight for our dreams. Or maybe sometimes we don’t know how to fight for our dreams. So we just hope and wait 😉

    Thanks you so much 🙂

Sylviane Nuccio - June 12, 2014

Hi Ilka,

I know you’ve been on one of my blog recently, but it’s my first time here. Sorry, you’ve caught me at my worse busy time period, that’s why I’ve taken so long to get to visit you.

This is a men’s world, so I’m pro women all the way 🙂 I love those women’s quotes. We have nothing to envy men whatsoever, except of the physical strenght of course, but nothing in the head area, right? 🙂

I love Jane Goodhall’s quote whatever we do, does make a difference, doesn’t it? So we should choose carefully.

    Hi Sylviane!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog 🙂

I agree that women and men are equally intelligent and capable of getting things done. And Jane Goodall is the best example of being successful in a very loving and caring way.

And you are so right about her quote. We do have to choose carefully because we want to do a positive difference – after all 🙂

    Thanks, Ilka

Marylin Warner - June 25, 2014

Ilka, these quotes are EXCELLENT! Thank you for sharing them. My granddaughter is almost 11 and very good in match and science. She read all these quotes and copied down several.
She put a big STAR by the one she likes best: it was the one by Jane Goodall.
She carefully typed in in emails and sent to all her Girl Scout group. She said to be sure and tell you how cool she thinks your quotes are!
